A Legacy of Strengthening Sri Lanka’s Plantation Sector Since 1958
In 1992, under the Conversion of State Corporations and Properties into Private Companies Act, 450 estates managed by SLSPC and JEDB were leased to Regional Plantation Companies. SLSPC retained 55 mid-country estates, of which 11 were transferred to Elkaduwa Plantations Limited, leaving 16 estates under SLSPC’s management.
Although operations were temporarily closed in 1992, SLSPC successfully resumed operations in 1994 with renewed commitment, fresh talent, and a continued mission of delivering excellence, sustainability, and growth in the plantation sector.
