ඒ අනුව, ශ්රී ලංකා රාජ්ය වැවිලි සංස්ථාවේ(SLSPC) සේවකයින් 164 දෙනෙකුට, ජනතා වතු සංවර්ධන මණ්ඩලයේ(JEDB) සේවකයින් 87 දෙනෙකුට සහ ඇල්කඩුව වැවිලි සමාගම (EPL)සේවකයින් 52 දෙනෙකුට වශයෙන් සමස්ත සේවකයින් 303 දෙනෙකු වෙත ඊයේ දින සංකේතාත්මකව චෙක්පත් ප්රදානය කරන ලදී.

ඒ අනුව, ශ්රී ලංකා රාජ්ය වැවිලි සංස්ථාව සඳහා රුපියල් මිලියන 1,961ක්, ජනතා වතු සංවර්ධන මණ්ඩලය සඳහා රුපියල් මිලියන 2,043ක් සහ සීමාසහිත ඇල්කඩුව වැවිලි සමාගම සඳහා රුපියල් මිලියන 503ක් වශයෙන්, සමස්ත රුපියල් මිලියන 4,506ක මුදලක් හිඟ ව්යවස්ථාපිත දීමනා පියවීම සඳහා අනුමත කර ඇත.
මෙය මෙරට ආර්ථිකය ගොඩනැගීම සඳහා පරම්පරා ගණනාවක් පුරා සිය ශ්රමය සහ දහඩිය කැප කළ වතු ජනතාවගේ අයිතිවාසිකම් වෙනුවෙන් රාජ්යයක් ලෙස ඉටු කරන වගකීමකි. මෙමගින් කම්කරුවාගේ ශ්රමයට වටිනාකමක් ලබාදීමත්, ඔහුගේ හෝ ඇයගේ අයිතිවාසිකම් ආරක්ෂා කිරීමත්, ගෞරවාන්විත ජීවිතයක් සඳහා අවශ්ය ආර්ථික සුරක්ෂිතභාවය ගොඩනැගීමත් අරමුණු කරගත් ප්රතිපත්තිමය තීරණයකි.

Providing a historic solution to the issue of unpaid statutory allowances for employees in state plantation institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure—a problem that remained unsolved for years—the current government has taken steps to allocate Rs. 4,506 million (Rs. 4.5 billion) for this purpose.
As the inaugural step, the arrears gratuity payment program was held yesterday (10) at the Kandy District Secretariat, where cheques for the outstanding gratuity funds were symbolically presented to 303 employees.
Accordingly, cheques were symbolically awarded yesterday to a total of 303 employees: 164 employees from the Sri Lanka State Plantations Corporation (SLSPC), 87 employees from the Janatha Estates Development Board (JEDB), and 52 employees from Elkaduwa Plantations Ltd (EPL).
Due to past financial difficulties in these state plantation institutions, workers had not been paid their statutory allowances for years. To resolve this, Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, Mr. Samantha Vidyaratne, intervened and submitted a cabinet memorandum on March 5, 2025, which received Cabinet approval. Subsequently, it was decided that the General Treasury would provide the necessary financial provisions to settle these arrears.
The Rs. 4,506 million allocation is distributed as follows: Rs. 1,961 million for SLSPC, Rs. 2,043 million for JEDB, and Rs. 503 million for EPL.
This is a state responsibility fulfilled on behalf of the plantation community, who have sacrificed their labor and sweat for generations to build the country’s economy. The event was attended by political authorities including Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Samantha Vidyaratne, Minister of Labor Anil Jayantha Fernando, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure Sundaralingam Pradeep, Kandy District MPs E.M. Basnayake, Attorney Thushari Jayasinghe, and Riyas Farook. State officials including the Secretaries of the relevant Ministries, the Kandy District Secretary, Chairmen and officials of the SLSPC, JEDB, and EPL, as well as the beneficiaries, were also present.
